New Year's Resolutions | Here's one way to kick it off...

Natural Body Detox – How to Purify your Body

Author: Louis Richard
The health benefits of a natural body detox have been known about for hundreds of years by many different cultures all over the world. A diet consisting of healthy nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants will help to cleanse and nourish the body and bring it back to optimum health and functionality.

It is true that the body does its best to flush out toxins found in the body. It does this extra hard, but sometimes, the job gets too hard, especially if the toxins found are metallic in nature, such as cadmium, lead, and mercury. In these cases, the body works double time, using up more energy than necessary, thus giving allergies, bad breath, bloating, colds, constipation, dull skin, excessive weight, fatigue, headaches, hemorrhoids, indigestion, insomnia, mood swings, intestinal parasites, stomach pain, and a weakened immune system. When this happens, the body is giving signs that it needs assistance in cleansing the whole body.

You’ll find that when you are enjoying cooking a new body detox recipe that they will enjoy eating it! The foods that you tend to eat when you are on a natural body detox are foods that you will see are quite healthy. You’ll also see that whole foods are instrumental when it comes to removing toxins from your body and that children respond very well to whole foods. Take some time to think about what foods you are feeding your child currently, and how much better their bodies could function if you removed the majority of the toxins from it!

Natural herbs can help to cleanse your organs in many ways. Your colon can accommodate much toxicity which can result to its sluggish functioning. Fiber supplements cleansing diet are incorporated for cleaning and toning colons. The supplements includes herbal laxatives like psyllium seed husk used alone or combined with agents such as betonite clay, acidophilus culture, and Aloe Vera powder. Enemas using herbs, diluted coffee, or water can be used for cleaning your liver, another important organ of your body.

The most important part of this natural body detox plan is consuming water that’s actually pure, safe, and healthy. Most of us are aware of the fact that our public tap systems do not supply us with completely safe drinking water. In fact, the technology it uses is over 100 years old, as it only removes visible particles and then adds chlorine to kill bacteria and other water-borne parasites.

Obviously, as a preparatory measure, prior to the beginning of your natural body detox, you have to bar further toxins from entering your body. Products which we consume regularly, such as, coffee, nicotine, refined sugar, alcohol, saturated fats, all contain toxins. So stop indulging yourself before you start natural detoxing. Other products of day to day use such as shampoo, toothpaste, soap, floor cleaners etc all contain toxins, so for the time being check the use of all that stuff.

Save The Earth | Going Green Part II

How Can You Help In Saving The Earth? Part 2

Author: CD Mohatta
In the first part of this article series, you read how water can be conserved better. In this article, we will discuss energy conservation. The developed world uses much more energy per person than the developing countries. Think of all the ways, you can conserve energy.

If you have just reached the traffic signal and the light turns red, shut off your engine. Most signals take at least 30-60 seconds before changing. You will save 10% fuel in a month in this way, thus lowering your fuel cost and intake and reduce your carbon footprint. If you have the money, switch to hybrid cars which use part-electricity and part-gas. Switch from big trucks and SUVs to smaller cars which are more fuel efficient. Fuel efficiency should be a very important factor when you choose a new car. Small cars sell most in developing countries because they are most fuel efficient.

In your home, you can do a lot to conserve energy and reduce your light bill. Turn off your lights and fans when no one is present in a room. Don't leave all the lights on before leaving your house. Leaving one or two lights in your living room / hall will suffice to scare that robber away. Don't leave a phone charging away all night long. Don't leave the charger in the socket if no phone is connected to it. Similarly, when your TV is not on, don't leave the switch on. Remove the wire from the socket because even if not on, a little electricity is consumed throughout. Leaving the heater on in sub zero conditions if you are going out for a day is better than turning it off. Because more energy will be consumed in bringing the temperature from sub zero to livable conditions. Similarly where air conditioning is required, keep the temperature on power saving mode.

Save The Earth | Going Green...Part I

How Can You Help In Saving The Earth? Part 1

Author: CD Mohatta
This is part one of this article series. These days, everyone is talking about saving the environment, conserving energy, cutting down on carbon dioxide emissions, etc. Scientists are warning about the impending dangers of global warming and increasing temperature. Don't you think every small step can help in going a long way towards conserving mother earth for the future generations? Let's start with conservation of water.

You can cut down your water consumption by using less water for your bath (bucket bath consumes very less water compared to a shower bath). Stop using the bath tub because it wastes the most water. Turn off your water tap while brushing. Use a hand sanitizer sometimes instead of washing your hands every now and then with soap and water. Ensure that your toilet flush consumes only so much water that is required to flush it. You can cut this usage down by putting a small stone or a 1 litre bottle in the flush tank.

If you live in an area where it rains often, think of rain water harvesting. In many places, this method of storing water has been adopted with great results. You can use this water for your toilet connection. You can use it to wash your car, water your plants, clean your floor, etc. Use your other water connection for cooking, bathing and for drinking water. Use your excess cooking water (in which you boiled something) to water your plants instead of spilling it down the drain. Plants will gain from the mineral, vitamin rich water. Ensure that no water leakage or wastage occurs in your premises. A dripping tap is alone responsible for many hundred gallons of water wastage every year. So make sure all taps work fine. If not, call your plumber asap. Just apply your mind and don't waste water. You will help the environment in which you live. Continue reading part two in this article series.

Holidays are stressful | Reduce stress naturally

5 Steps To Reduce Stress Naturally

Author: Christopher Green

Stress is predicted to be the biggest health problem in the 21st century and if stress is spoiling the quality of your life, put these five keys to reduce stress naturally into action today and find some much needed relief.

Feeling as if you're trapped in a rut or that your life is going nowhere is another part of stressful illnesses and this feeling can trigger depression. Doing the same routines day in, day out isn't good for us and although we do need some security, too much can cause problems. Take yourself out of your comfort zone and try something new. Start a course, a fitness program, try a new sport, learn a musical instrument, go on a activity holiday or take up a new hobby. New experiences add to the pleasure you get from life and keep your spark alive.

Avoid stress, anxiety and depression treatments that don't work, especially diets, nutritional supplements and antidepressant drugs. The food you eat or don't eat cannot cause nor cure stress, depression or anxiety. Drugs are used to treat chemical imbalances and as yet, there is no scientific evidence anywhere to prove that chemical imbalances cause stress, depression or anxiety. One of the main causes for all of them lies in flawed modes of thinking and these can be very effectively addressed and will bring more relief for you than food, supplements or drugs.

When you're suffering a stressful, depressive or anxious episode, a feeling that somehow, it's your fault can creep in. In blaming yourself this way, guilty feelings arise and you feel even worse. But you're not at fault in anyway, you didn't suddenly decide to suffer from stress, depression or anxiety and I know you'd ditch them right now if you could! Stress, depression and anxiety have specific causes that certainly aren't your fault. Never blame yourself and concentrate on treating the causes instead.

Burnout is an ever increasing problem in our society. As if a full working day isn't enough, many people return home and have to do even more work to run the family home, prepare meals, time for the children and a multitude of other activities and people all clamouring for attention. So make "me time" a priority. Have at least one 20 minute break away from your work station where you can relax in peace. At home, schedule periods each day so you can rest and relax. These times are so important to both mental and physical health and they'll help relieve stress, depression and anxiety.

It's been said many times: What you focus on becomes your reality. It's true and in life, little things can make a big difference. If you continually focus on problems, on little things that annoy you, on the irritating habits your loved ones have and on all of the inconveniences we all experience in daily living, your going to be unhappy. Instead, focus on the little things that make life worthwhile but that many of us take for granted: a sunrise, a smile, an act of kindness, a star filled sky, a hug from your children, a kiss from your lover or support from your friends and family. We all have many wonderful things we can focus on everyday instead of expecting them without regard and the more you focus on these little things, the happier you'll feel.

Each of the above techniques will help you reduce stress and improve your overall health as well. Use them every day and you'll quickly feel the stress melting away.

Benefits of Chiropractic Care | "Naturally Green Form of Health Care"

Benefits of Chiropractic Care

Helping you feel better while you are doing the things you love…that’s the biggest and best benefit of regular chiropractic care! For a grandparent, that may mean they can let their grandchild ride piggyback while they crawl on the floor. The athlete may want a better golf swing. A new mother may want to rest better at night or have less neck and shoulder pain while running errands with the portable car seat slung over her arm. For another, it may mean being able to enjoy gardening on a sunny afternoon.

Chiropractic care is given for the purpose of re-aligning the bones or vertebrae of your spine. Those bones and joints have millimeters of movement that, when wrongly positioned from stress or injury or poor habits, can affect the function of the spinal nerves, muscles, blood vessels, and other parts of the spine or body. It can happen suddenly or very quietly over time. You may or may not have back or neck pain when the vertebrae are misaligned.

Known as a “VSC” or “Vertebral Subluxation Complex”, a misaligned bone in the spine is possible in every age spine. Chiropractors are doctors who specialize in care of the spine and nervous system. They are trained to detect and correct subluxations or misaligned vertebrae by realigning the vertebrae. Called an “adjustment”, the chiropractor helps realign the vertebrae to remove any interference or pressure on the spinal nerve, relaxing the muscles, and helping allow the body to use it’s inborn or Innate Intelligence to perform the healing functions it was naturally designed to do. When the spine is aligned and your body is functioning normally, you often experience the benefits of pain relief, stronger joints, less tension, and rejuvenated energy with this natural form of health care.

Without the use of medications, over-the-counter drugs, or surgery, another benefit of Chiropractic care is that it provides a naturally “green” form of health care! No product packaging to throw away, no body wastes, no chemicals to flush down the toilet or throw away when expired! Finding a chiropractor in your area can be one of the best choices you’ll make for you and your family. You may contact our office for care in the Columbia, SC area or call us and we’ll help you find a chiropractor wherever you live!

Save Energy by Turning off the lights.. How much?

Go Green by Turing Off the Lights
By Erin K Kennedy

It doesn't matter what kind of bulbs you have in your lamps, turn them off when you leave the room! Not only will you save money every month when you go green by turning off the lights, you are also keeping unwanted CO2 omissions from further contributing to global warming.
Let's talk about the numbers. Let's say you have a 75 watt incandescent light bulb. And let's say it's a lamp in your entry hallway. You come home in the evening and turn it on so you can see your way into the rest of your home. But after you are in the rest of the house, you leave it on for 3 hours till you go to bed. If you were to turn it off after you are safely in, and going into the rest of the house, you would save about 125 pounds of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere. That's only one lamp. If you are one who turns on lots of lights all over the house, just leave lights on for hours at a time even if you aren't in the room, ya, you can do the math.
If you still have incandescent light bulbs, change them out and replace them with CFL bulbs. These are compact florescent light bulbs and use much less energy to light your home and save the environment from dangerous levels of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. It is getting easier to find CFL bulbs, but they are still not available in every store. Home Depot is a good place to start.
Keep in mind that just as incandescent bulbs come in different wattages and colors, so do CFLs. Here is a simple guide to wattages to buy for individual rooms:
Your bathroom:
23 watts: You want it bright enough to make sure that you see everything and can make your self beautiful without having to squint!
Guest bathroom:
19 watts: You guest needs to be able to see, but you don't want it so bright that they won't want to turn on the light.
Kitchen: 19 watts
You want the light to be bright enough for you to see to cook, but not feel like you are stage.
Living Room: 13 watts
This gives a nice soft light, but bright enough for you to read.
Bedroom: 11-13 watts
Depending on if you want a low light as if it was candle light, or you need it brighter to read by.
Be aware that CFLs contain a small amount of mercury, so you can't just toss them when they finally do burn out. There are places that recycle them, like IKEA, but if push comes to shove, double bag them in zip-top baggies and carefully throw them away so as not to break the bulb.
It really isn't that hard to go green by turning off the lights. You don't have to be an athlete to accomplish this; all it takes is a little wrist or finger action to work a light switch, or screw in a new bulb and you are doing a great service to the environment and saving yourself some money. How can that be a bad thing?
I have been writing articles and publishing editorials for over 3 years covering a number of popular topics about everyday life. My interests as of late have involved temporary handicap access options and researching motorized wheel chair options for a short term situation. Discover the innovations and choices I found about wheel chair ramp options and choices to provide for temporary access needs.

Even your drink can be Green...

Go Green With Organic Tea

Purest Tea on the Planet - Shop Numi Organic Tea

By: Mayoor Patel
More and more tea varieties are available as organic tea nowadays. Every variety of tea, whether Black tea, Green tea, White tea, or Oolong tea, is cultivated in some regions under protocols of organic cultivation. This trend has much to do with a return to the source need which has taken the world by storm in the recent years.

Organic tea is marketed as USDA approved teas. Whether in leaf or bag form, these teas carry the USDA seal. Some even provide information regarding the area of origin for the tea. Almost every major variety of tea and blends is carried under this label, namely USDA Ceylon Herbal Tea, USDA Dancing Leaves Green Tea, USDA Flowering Fruit Tea, USDA Green Earl Greyer Tea, USDA Lemon Green Tea with Honey, USDA Mint Fields Herbal Tea, and USDA Temple of Health Herbal Tea.

Organic tea is grown following strict rules of organic cultivation, using only natural elements in the treatment of the soil, fertilization process and providing natural light instead of any artificial light source. It makes no use whatsoever of destructive chemicals, preferring to go the natural way and encouraging Nature to provide for better crop cultivation. Chemicals are known to destroy not only the land where they are used, but also the surrounding ecosystem.

Organic cultivation of tea contributes to improved soil fertility. The use of natural fertilizers such as compost, natural organic matter and plants provide all the nutrients and elements needed by the soil to grow better crops. It has been noted that organically grown crops produce a better yield. Organic cultivation also makes use of natural methods of pest control such as little bugs and insects like the pest-controlling spider. Associated with traditional methods like crop rotation and mulching, a more eco-friendly cultivation is thus ensured.

The benefits of organic cultivation of tea also overlap onto the surrounding ecosystem and live habitat around the area. Wildlife is allowed to thrive, and there is less risk of pollution by harmful chemicals. The natural cultivation of the land means that nothing damaging makes its way into the water table, nor does the soil itself suffer from the use of artificial additives. Animals and human are thus protected, and are also provided with a better environment, free of harmful pesticides and other chemicals, some of which may pose serious heath hazards.

Organic tea is also said to retain most of its inherent benefits. Hand picked and processed the orthodox way, the teas carry a quality standard which is not attained by conventional tea manufacture.

Fair Trade & Green Living are Important

The Importance of Fair-trade and Ethical Products

Author: Gen Wright
These days technology is rising quickly, and it still does because it makes people's life easier. Nowadays the web is used to do pretty much anything, from finding basic to complex information, meeting new people and even buying and selling products. Not like the old day when people need to buy something they always go to the market. Today we can stay at home, open our web browsers and with a few clicks we can get what we are looking for by having it conveniently shipped to our homes.

When it comes to technology it all sounds beautiful and simple but there is most definitively a downside. The cost of technology, in many cases, affects the well being of Mother Nature and by consequence ourselves thus, not being completely ethical. Many technologies that companies develop and produce are not safe to our planet and as a result these unsafe products can damage the earth. It is true that human kind cannot get anything without first giving something in return but in the process we forget just how valuable the things we sacrifice really are, for example, a farmer who plant coffee or rice will always want to get the best price for his work, he is part of the supply part of the market but in many cases people's demand is too high which makes producers work even harder and putting more strain on the earth used to cultivate the good, if this process continues we will soon regret being part of this demand/supply chain because the one suffering and taking a big hit in the long run is Mother Earth. Striking a balance between fair pricing and lowering the impact the planet takes because of our demand is why fair-trade is important.

What is buying fair-trade? Fair-trade is a system of trade based on a direct relationship and partnership between buyers and producing community. Fair Trade makes sure that farmers and artisans receive a fair price for their products, have direct involvement in the marketplace, and uphold environmental and labor rights standards. The system builds real and last relationships between producers in developing countries and businesses and consumer. Buy fair-trade means that you make selection to the products you want to buy. You only buy products that are not giving exploitative to the earth (it is friendly product) and the products that already have a fair price.

What about the ethical products? The ethical products are some products that are made or create by thinking about the safeties for the earth. These like the friendly products or usually people said these are organic products. According to the latest information, people who buy organic products are increase. It is because they started to care with the planet earth that we are living in and great awareness of the issue surrounding the source of the products. And it is because many producers make organic products.

Even the organic products are more expensive but most people still choose to buy these products. Food and beverage are dominated ethical products that the consumers buy. Followed by eco-friendly stuff that most people say eco-green living. For example like clothing, house wires, jewelry, handicrafts, and accessories and of course the most important is organic foods (rice, vegetables, fruits and staples).

This fair-trade and ethical product is issue that is important to know and to do. Because this issue has many consequences for the producers, relailers and consumers. So, start from today why we do not buy in fair-trade and ethical products. It will give many benefits to us and also protect our earth. Just go green.

Green Living | What does it mean to you?

What Does Living Green Mean to You

Author: Michael Bridges
I think everybody has the same basic concept of what living green is. Basically it’s making the earth healthier so that we, the inhabitants, can live healthier. But beyond that what does it mean to you on a personal level? Are your reasons for living green humanitarian or personal?
What are some of the personal reasons people might choose for living green? Well, finances for one. Gas prices are very high right now and getting higher. Switching to biofuel or another fuel alternative might help cut down on carbon emissions, but it can also keep more money in your pocket. Using those energy efficient compact florescent bulbs may be a part of living green, but they also save you money on your energy bill.
Another personal reason for living green can be health. Followers of living a green life stress giving up or reducing meat consumption. This is also a health issue for someone with high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart problems. Green household products are good for the environment, but there also good for health conditions like allergies.
Ego can be a personal reason for living green. Living green is really big and getting bigger so showing people that you have conformed to the green way of life can you some pats on the back. It can be a big boost to the ego when you are being congratulated for something you’re doing.
Living green is very important in the longevity of this planet. So whatever reason you have chosen to embrace living green, personal or humanitarian, just doing so helps us all.

Go Green | Exercise & Be Healthy

Living a Green Life with Fitness and Nutrition

Author: Michael Greeves
If working out and the environment are both important to you, there is no reason why the two cannot be put together. There are plenty of ways of staying fit and healthy while being friendly to the environment.

Alternate Ways of Transportation

If your gym, work, school or friend's house is nearby, walk or ride your bike there instead of driving your car. You'll burn more calories and help keep the air cleaner. Keep a bag of your toiletries with you to help make your commute easier.

Eco-Friendly Gyms

Gyms and other workout facilities are becoming more environmentally conscious. If your gym is not green and friendly to the environment you can make suggestions and encourage the staff to become green. Here are a few suggestions that workout facilities can easily implement:

- Recycling system
- Encourage patrons to bring their own, reusable water bottles
- Cut down on electricity use
- Switch to energy-saving light bulbs
- Install water-saving shower heads
- Have natural cleaning products and soaps
- Encourage the use of organic workout clothes with natural cotton and fibers
- Create programs that help give back to the environment, such as community service activities

The Great Outdoors

Instead of constantly working out at your local gym or home, exercise outside. You can take a jog throughout your neighborhood or park. If there are hiking trails near your home, take a friend and get your workout in by hiking for an afternoon. For one, it saves on electricity and also gives you a chance to connect better with your community and environment.

Get Family and Friends Involved

A wonderful way to get people involved is organizing activities that can help others stay in shape and give back to their community and environment. Many people like to have workout buddies, so why not have a group workout together and give back? Here are a few suggestions on how to help the environment while staying fit

- Organize a hike at a local park instead of a day at the gym
- Join or organize a community garden
- Plant trees along a highway
- Pick up trash alongside the road
- Join an environmental group and participate in its activities
- Promote alternate ways of traveling by organizing a group to walk or bike

Be Green and Eat Healthy

Before and after a hard workout, your body needs fuel to reenergize and stay healthy. Fresh juices and fruits are excellent ways of getting those needed nutrients before or even during your workouts. The fruit and juice won't be too heavy or unsettling to your stomach. Organic energy bars can help both your body and the environment. You can make your own energy bars and not buy the already-packaged products as well. Those wrappers and boxes can pile up quickly. The ingredients in an energy bar can easily be found at your local grocery store.

There are numerous ways to help the environment, your health and the health of your friends and family. Businesses and other organizations are finding ways to become green, and there is no reason why people can't be healthy and fit while helping the environment.

Green Living Tip | Save Ink & Paper

Five Great Tips to Save on Printer Ink and Paper in Your Home Office

So, you may quickly guess that this article is being written from a home office. I have a few ideas about saving ink and paper and am sure that everybody else working in a home office does as well. Here are some of the great and common ideas that home office denizens have come up with to save on ink, ink cartridges and paper.

Reduce, reuse

Shop for deals and returns
Try refills
Put four images on one page for draft work
Use all the ink

Do not print everything. Just because there is an image or text on the screen in front of you does not mean that you need to print it. This especially goes for internet pages. An internet page will find ink and ink cartridges working overtime to blend all the colors together for the desired look. If you must print the page use black ink only and save the other three for your presentation drafts.

Reuse/reduce. Just so it is not left out of the mix, use both sides of the page. You might also find savings in using the legal size paper that you only used 20 sheets of. Mine sat forever until I began using it for drafts. If there is a large presentation coming up think about putting 4 to 6 printed pages on one page. Ink will go that much farther and since you are really just trying to get a look at how it will look the size shouldn not matter too much. This will save loads of ink cartridge and paper.

Deals/returns. When you do run out of ink shop at a store that will give you a deal on recycling the ink cartridge. If you are replacing all four ink cartridges at one time there are stores out there that will give you $12.00, which of course will go toward the$ 60.00 or so for new ink cartridges.

Refills. Some swear by refills, others do not. If they work for you go for it. Refill Ink is an individual thing and can save some cash so you decide. So try refills as it may make a difference to the overall cost.

Use all the ink. The low ink window is like a bell ringing for a dog. The window comes up and a trip to the store is needed right away. Do not be swayed. There is likely quite a bit of ink left in the ink cartridge. Remember that the ink comes out in a spray so it doesn’t take much. Use it all and then shake the ink cartridge to break any Ink clogs up, especially in humid climates.
There are like many more home office tips and tricks that can be used to save money in the home office. The real trick is to slow down half a step and think about the actions that your hands are making. If you have gotten into a particular habit you could be wasting materials like ink cartridges and ink.

Make a Difference | Recycle | 1st step in Going Green

Recycling Means Saving In More Ways Than One

This great big planet seems to be getting smaller and smaller. As more people call it home, the need to conserve, preserve and recycle is becoming more and more evident. While it's not possible for one person to solve all the world's problems when it comes to preservation and conservation, a single human can make a huge difference in a single community or an area.

Recycling is one of the best ways a person can make a difference in their community. The effort is relatively simple, generally supported by curbside pick up and can even be financially beneficial. Plus, it benefits the planet.

If you doubt the necessity to recycle, take a look at your weekly trash. Now consider what items could be pulled out and saved from a trip to a landfill. Cuts the number of bags down by a lot, doesn't it?

If you'd like to get started recycling, but don't know how, here are some ideas:

* Check with your local government authority to see if there are curbside recycling programs in place. If your government doesn't have them, perhaps your trash handlers do. In many communities there are special, designated days for recycling of certain items. There's not even a need to take the recyclables to a special collection site - it comes to you instead.

* If there is a recycling program in place, find out its rules and regulations. Depending on location, some items may be accepted and others may not. There may even be special bags or bins necessary to make sure the pick up program can easily identify what's meant to be recycled and what's meant for the landfill.

* If you don't have a recycling program, check with a recycling company. These do exist and they handle everything from cardboard to aluminum and copper and more.

In general, the following items are accepted by recycling programs. Keep in mind though some of these items can net you cash if you turn them into a company rather than put them through a curbside service. In some cases, a lot of money.

* Glass. Many types of glass can be recycled. This will oftentimes have to be rinsed out. Check with your local program for information on types accepted and prep steps necessary.

* Aluminum. This is one that can net you money. Check for local regulations on its recycling, but keep in mind if you go through a lot of cans, you could be throwing money away if you don't recycle, not to mention wasting landfill space.

* Copper wires. Electricians often come into contact with this. When stripped of its covering, this can net some serious cash at a recycling place.

* Newspapers. These are great for recycling. There's no need to throw them away. Newspapers can be worth money for those who recycling them, too. In fact, many youth organizations do newspaper drives to make themselves some extra cash. Rather than selling a product, they collect your junk for their fundraising.

Making a difference for our planet truly begins one person at a time. Recycling is an easy way to get active and have an impact.

Recycling | Some Facts...

Recycling: Fast Facts
When it comes to recycling doing a little can help a lot. As limited resources become more limited, and as the impact of waste places a bigger burden on the environment, the time for action is now. While the actions of one may not be enough to correct all the problems the world faces, the role of the individual should not be underrated in the journey towards a cleaner, more efficient, future.

Did you know?

One recycled tin could offset the environmental impact of 3 hours of watching television. On a daily basis, if you watch 3 hours of TV per day, you could simply recycle any tins that you consume during the day and sit back watching the TV safe in the knowledge that your not contributing negatively to the environment.

Recycled Paper uses 70% less energy to produce. The next time you pick up paper, why not consider opting for a recycled sheet? If your a business you may find that your customers may treat this as a positive signal – if you care for the environment then your more likely to care for them as a customer.

16% of energy consumption in manufacture goes into the packaging. Maybe you don't judge a book by its cover, or the products your want to buy based on the packaging, but you may be surprised to find that the investment businesses make in packaging comes at a price – to the environment.

9 out of 10 people think recycling is too hard. If recycling was made easier then 9 out of 10 people would be more likely to do it. If your an employer then why not consider providing your employees with the tools they need to make recycling possible and effortless? Even if you don't own a business what's stopping you from going out and helping your neighbours to recycle.

Teach A Man How to Fish...

If your recycling then your doing your bit and ensuring that your contribution towards the environment is a positive one. In short your an asset to the environment and your input will be appreciated by your grandchildren in years to come. However, imagine how much more impact you could have if you managed to get others to do the same as you.

That's right, rather than just doing your bit why not get others to follow suit? You could get your family and friends to do the same thing, and then get them to get their friends to recycle and so on. In doing so the impact of your actions could multiply exponentially.

If you ensure that you do your bit, and do your best to get others on board then the problem of environment change could well be one that has less ramifications than it looks like it might if things continue as they are now. Make sure that you can say you've done your bit, and that you get as much people as you can on board.

Steps to Going Green | Start tomorrow morning

Make green your morning routine

Author: Paige Green
Want to go green but not quite ready to install solar panels? Try this tomorrow, wake up ten minutes earlier and run through this eco checklist. Just for one day make "green" your morning routine.
CheckSee the light - in the morning, open up your curtains and let in the natural light. It's healthy and much more eco friendly than switching on lamps.
Check Turn the tap off while you brush your teeth - there's no need to have the water running while you brush. Use a cup to rinse instead of running the water.
Check Ditch the electric toothbrush - since when did moving your arm back and forth require too much effort?
check
Use a bucket to collect warm up shower water - while you wait for the water to warm up, you can use a bucket to collect the "grey water" from your shower and use it to water your plants and garden.
check Have breakfast at home - instead of getting "take away" which often involves excessive packaging, buy your breakfast foods in bulk. If you are in a hurry, grab something to go in a re-usable container. (While you're at it why not pack something up for lunch as well?)
check Turn off your power points - NOW is the time to do it! Check the lights, kitchen appliances, entertainment systems, computers, microwave - everything you don't need running while you're at work!
check Eco your commute - just today, try public transport, cycle or just walk. You might find you'll enjoy it! If you have to drive, try and arrange a car pool just for today, it will help you save on petrol and parking too!
check Morning coffee - bring a mug down to the café, or if your work has the facilities (and to save some $$) make your own.
Morning Routine
Congratulations! You've just run through a more eco friendly morning routine. (That wasn't so hard was it?)
Living a more eco friendly lifestyle starts with small behavioral change. Now that you've done it once, can you do it again tomorrow?

Eco-Baby | Bamboo

Reasons to Buy Eco-friendly Baby Clothing

Author: Karen Eng
Every parent wants the best for their baby, be it toys, clothes or any other product. With the increase in awareness regarding the harmful chemicals used during manufacturing of clothes, people have started buying eco-friendly clothes for their babies. Eco-friendly baby clothing is the latest fad and the demand for these clothes has increased manifold due to their various benefits. The eco-friendly clothes are not only beneficial for a child but are also excellent for the environment.

Eco-friendly baby bamboo clothes are made of bamboo fabric which is created from bamboo pulp. The best thing about bamboo fabric is that it does not need chlorine to be bleached and can also be dyed easily without being treated with harsh chemicals. The baby clothes made of cotton or other synthetic products are harmful for your baby. While growing cotton, it requires to be sprayed with various pesticides and studies have revealed that some chemicals used in cotton like propargite, dicofol, and cyanazine are linked to cancer. Baby bamboo clothes are a safer and healthier alternative to cotton clothes. There are many other reasons to buy eco-friendly baby bamboo clothes:

  • As eco-friendly baby wear are manufactured using minimal chemical processes, they use less energy in comparison to other clothes. The chemicals used can be harmful to the environment, thus by buying eco-friendly bamboo baby clothing, you are contributing to safer environment.
  • Eco-friendly baby clothes are best for the soft and delicate skin of a baby. These baby bamboo clothes are made of fabrics which have not been chemically treated; additionally, no pesticides are used while growing bamboo. Bamboo also has natural anti-bacterial agents which repel pests and eliminate the use of pesticides. The root system of bamboo is healthy and it helps in enriching the soil rather than depleting the resources of the soil.
  • The most important reason to buy eco-friendly baby clothes is the comfort factor. With an appearance comparable to silk or cashmere, baby bamboo clothes are extremely soft, silky, and have a smooth texture. Bamboo fiber is also highly durable and the baby bamboo clothes can be washed with other clothes.

You can find a variety of hand knit kimonos, yoda sweaters, hoodies, hats, socks, onesies and many more baby clothing at http://www.babybambu.com/. Here you can buy eco-friendly baby clothes made from 100% bamboo yarn for your cute little babies.

Eco-Chic Reusable Bags | Now In Stock

Go Green Goods is very pleased to announce their new shipment of these Chic bags arrived this week!  Check out all the different styles at http://www.gogreengoodsstore.com/Eco-Bags.html

These bags make going green easy - on your style.

Reusable Bags | Eco Chic is in...

Reusable Bags: the Next Big Thing in the Fashion Industry

Author: Suzanne

If you thought reusable bags are way too boring, you are certainly missing something. The good news is, reusable bags are available in every imaginable shades and styles and are being generously endorsed by some of the biggest brands in the fashion industry. Earlier, the designs of eco bags were monotonous and thus found few supporters.

From consumer point of view, style has always ruled the roost. The greatest challenge for reusable bag manufacturers was to design stylish bags without hampering the eco-friendly quotient. Fortunately, eco bag brands have finally been successful in coming out with really cool designer bags. Another welcome news is that green bags are now being promoted by Hollywood stars as well as top fashion icons. In countries like Japan, the green bag of Anya Hindmarch with the tote, “I am not a Plastic Bag” had become a rage among fashionistas last year. This green designer bag is believed to have sold to a record million bags with the same tote!

With the style quotient high on its sleeve, reusable bags can now voice its benefits with a much louder voice to reach greater sections of people. Durable, eco friendly, and cost effective, green bags form the best alternative to plastic as well as paper bags. Enhanced durability makes them ideal for carrying your daily grocery necessities without casting a blemish on your style quotient.

The use of reusable bags should be promoted widely so as to increase its supporters from all corners of the world. This is essential to combat the threats arising out of the contamination of water bodies across the globe. Intensive studies suggest that thousands of sea animals die annually due to plastic consumption which they mistake for food. Plastic breaks down into smaller, more toxic petro polymers, which eventually contaminates water bodies and soil.

It is great to observe how people are embracing the Go Green concept and are voicing their support for it. The ultimate success of this eco revolution lies in nurturing a new lifestyle where every accessory used will be eco friendly. Trends keep changing but we have to ensure that the eco way of life doesn’t change.

Go Green | Save Green

How Going Green Can Save the Environment and Your Bank Account

By: Clifford Bird

Many people are going green to reduce their carbon footprint to help to save the environment. But going green can also have a positive effect on your bank account as well. If you are looking to save some green, going eco friendly can help you to do so in multiple ways.

Save energy

Looking for ways to save energy can help you to save money as well when it comes time to pay your electric bill. And you don’t have to switch to alternative energy source for that electricity, although that is a good idea in itself. Setting your home thermostat down a few degrees in the winter and up a few degrees in the summer will waste less energy. Changing to compact fluorescent light bulbs will save energy and put fewer light bulbs in landfills. Washing your clothes with cold water and then drying them on a clothesline will help you to save a lot of money and energy when you do the laundry.

Save water

Another way to go eco friendly and save cash is to save water. Try taking shorter showers or installing a low-flow showerhead. Wait to run dishwashers and washing machines until you have a accumulated a full load. And when planting outside, look for plants that need a minimal amount of watering. When it comes to the water you drink, skip on buying the bottled stuff and instead get a filter for your home tap reducing plastic bottle consumption. Carry a reusable water bottle filled with your filtered water with you to help reduce waste and cut your costs.

Save fuel

If rising gas prices are a concern for you, then saving gas will help you save money along with saving the environment. You could try walking or riding a bike instead of driving where you need to go. Telecommuting, using public transportation, or moving closer to work will help save you money in the face of rising fuel prices and reduce your carbon footprint.

One of the best solutions to consider is to buy a converter kit for your vehicle, thus making your existing car a hybrid. By performing the simple task of installing the kit, you will make use of cleaner fuel and reduce your personal emissions as well as get an overall lower gas price. This, coupled with tremendous financial savings due to reduced gas costs, makes installing a kit an easy win–win decision for any consumer.

Save food

While you might not think of the purchase of groceries as being eco friendly behavior, there are some things you can do while shopping that will help the environment and save you money. Try eating one additional meatless meal a week, or go completely vegetarian. This will help you cut your grocery budget and reduce negative environmental factors. Buy locally produced food as much as you can – not only will the food be fresher and healthier and likely cost less, but you will not have to worry about the carbon footprint created for shipping the items nearer to you.

Buy smart

Buying smarter will help to save you money and allow you to be more eco friendly at the same time. Recycling is great, but “Reuse before Recycling” as this saves even more resources. Try finding gently used secondhand products instead of buying new, particularly for items like furniture, appliances, clothes, and even toys. Buy products from companies that use alternative fuels in manufacturing and/or are conscious about their carbon footprint. Borrow books and videos from the library, and share toys and tools with neighbors. You can also buy in bulk to save money reducing the amount of packaging that come with your products and reduce your usage profile.

If you pay attention to your everyday life, there are plenty of areas where you can shop smarter and save green in both your pocketbook and the environment.

Great Bamboo Products | Now Available!

Bamboo Fabric - Green and Gorgeous

When people think of bamboo they usually think of the hard bamboo that is used in construction and landscaping. Too few are aware of bamboo as a fabric, which is now making its way into the market. Bamboo is one of the softest fabrics in the world — softer than cotton but with a drape like silk, less expensive but more durable - perfect for babying your skin. It is luxuriously soft with what has been described as a similar feel to cashmere. Its cloth is an indulgence with its wonderful silky softness.

Bamboo clothing is for all seasons and for all skin types. It does not stick to the body or skin even on the hottest of days and will always make you feel extremely cool under any condition.

Bamboo Fabric is Green

Bamboo grows over 3.5ft/day at its maximum height during its peak growth. Unlike other forest trees which require a 60-year recovery period, natural bamboo plants are easily recovered within 2-3 years after cutting without leaving any adverse impact on the environment. A bamboo plantation requires less energy to maintain than any other trees or plants for fiber production. The bamboo plant can survive in drought and in flood.

Bamboo fiber is manufactured from 100% bamboo plant using top-of-the-line technologies. Most companies use raw bamboo that is 3-4 years old. Its vast root network assures its sustainability. As new shoots sprout, more sunlight is able to filter through, and greenhouse gases are converted into new green growth. The fiber is completely biodegradable in soil, making it eco-friendly. Bamboo fiber is praised as "the natural, green, and eco-friendly new-type textile material of 21st century."

Bamboo plants thrive even without any pesticide. Research has proven that bamboo contains "bamboo kun", a singular unique anti-bacteria and bacteriostasis bio-agent that when blended with bamboo binds tightly into the fiber. Bamboo fiber contains natural anti-bacterial components that, unlike chemical antimicrobial treatments, do not cause any skin irritation or allergies when added to clothing. The natural and unique features of anti-bacteria and deodorization of the bamboo fiber have been proven through research by the Japan Textile Inspection Association, which showed that the bacteriostasis is still present in the fabric even after being washed more than 50 times.

Bamboo Fabric is Gorgeous Bamboo fabric is destined to revolutionize the clothing industry. What is most notable of bamboo fiber is its unusual breathability and coolness. The micro-gaps & micro-holes that naturally occur in the bamboo fiber make its fabric moisture-absorbing and ventilating. This element enables bamboo fabric to absorb and eliminate moisture instantly. The textiles have many fantastic properties that when combined make this a truly amazing fabric - breathable and cool, nice luster; extremely soft; fast water absorption performance; and anti-bacterial. Those familiar with cotton, nylon and other textiles are amazed with the great difference and comfort bamboo fabric provides.

Bamboo Clothing has been tagged "Air-Conditioning Dress." The fiber is highly absorbent, moisture-rich, quick-drying, anti-bacterial, deodorizer, brightly colored yarn & ultimate softness is breaking textile markets and fashionistas' choices of clothing and apparel. Designers like as Kate O'Connor, known for creating ponchos and knits, have shifted from silk to the eco-friendly bamboo fabric. Other eco-fashion designers like Amanda Shi and Linda Loudermilk have followed suit.

Perhaps the best use of bamboo fibers is for babies, and lots of bamboo clothing is already available in the market, along with towels, blankets, and other linens. Whether at play or at sleep, babies are extremely comfortable when wearing bamboo fibers because the fiber keeps them cool and comfortable.

Go Green | 10 Easy Ways

Ten Easy Ways To Go Green

Author: Donna Cope

The resources on this Earth are being rapidly consumed by its inhabitants. We as citizens of this Earth need to be more proactive in doing all we can to be more eco-friendly and responsible when it comes to the consumption of those resources.

Here are a few quick, easy ways you can begin to "go green"--

  1. Buy and use energy-saving light bulb in your home. Fluorescent bulbs last up to 12 times longer and use 2/3 less energy than regular light bulbs.
  2. Turn off lights in your home when not in use. Lighting makes up about 11% of your electric bill.
  3. Conserve water by only washing full loads of clothes and dishes. Take showers instead of bathing in the tub.
  4. Buy locally grown produce from your local farmers market. This will reduce the cost of fuel used in getting the produce to consumers.
  5. Take your electronics off stand-by. If you have appliances and other electronics that use stand-by electricity, you can save up to $200 per year.
  6. Recycle plastic, glass, aluminum, paper, old tires, etc. Purchase products made from recycled materials.
  7. Turn down the heat in your home during the winter. Lowering the thermostat by one degree can save as much as $100 per year.
  8. Save a tree by paying your bills on-line. Use e-mail instead of writing letters. Ask to be removed from mailing lists so you can reduce junk mail.
  9. Buy refills for cleaning products, shampoo and beverages instead of tossing out the old containers.
  10. Help clean up the polluted air by car pooling, walking, riding a bicycle or using public transportation.

Just follow these simple rules and you can make a significant impact on saving the resources of our Earth.

Martingale Collars

We just added some great bamboo martingale dog collars to our store. What is a Martingale Collar? Martingale Collars have 2 loops. The smaller of the loops is called the "Control Loop". This is the portion of the collar that is attached to the leash and tightens when it is pulled. The second loop is the adjustment loop. This is the part of the dog collar that you adjust to the right size to fit your dog.
Dog trainers use martingale collars because of the gentle choke. Martingales are much more humane then a choke chain. For this reason Martingale collars make great training collars for all breeds Click here to see all of your choices.
